the next next next part 2

What can I say? I just finished watching DURARARA! (shorten as DRRR) and that anime serial was total brilliant!

From the plot, which is reaaallllyy unusual because it’s like Vantage Point (if you have watched this movie), where most of the episodes are viewing angles from different characters! And you won’t even recognize that the characters (even characters who seems only additional character) are importantly linked each others.

And… and.. the storyline is mental! It’s really unpredictable and also predictable at the same time (confused, huh? You should watch it yourself *lol)!!!

QUIRKY LOVE STORIES

After watched the whole episodes, I can tel that this anime is all about love. Yeah, it’s actually a serial contains love stories, which (maybe almost all of them) are crazy, mental, distorted, love stories. Why? Because they’re unusual! But you can tell those are love stories! Hahaha. And by the way, I also looked up some references and, YES, the author said that IT IS about DISTORTED LOVE STORY within life of many people that you cannot tell: street thugs, high school students, a female radio host, an underworld doctor, a young information vendor, and headless Irish fairytale Dullahan woman (hakobi-ya), even a love of Katana sword named Saika! Can you imagine what kind of love stories they may have? Well, watching this serials shows you all.

And by saying street thugs, underworld doctor, and young information vendor (joshi-ya), you maybe already catch it that the story’s setting is in street life of Tokyo, Japan. Yes, this whole story is located in Ikebukuro district, in a dark side of the city, which as dark as Shinjuku (another district in Tokyo which also has dark side).

Talking about street life, where stuffs like “Hakobi-ya”  (means: Deliverer) or “Joshi-ya” (means: information vendor), are exist. Yes, in a street life, you will need such people with such professions. Aaaandd… it reminds me a lot with another anime title in past time: Get Backers!

Get Backers mainly told about street life in Shinjuku, pointing views from all the workers of such professions like Hakobi-ya, Joshi-ya, Dakkan-ya (Get Backers is “Dakkan-ya” means: getting back whatever your stuffs that has been stolen, lost, or taken by someone), and many many others “xxx-ya” things with vary job specifications. That’s why I can tell this DURARARA is like the next generation of Get Backers, telling us about street life in Tokyo.

Even though, DRRR is whole about (quirky) love stories packaged in life of street people in Ikebukuro district, while Get Backers is pure telling about street life story in Shinjuku district. Both are thick of street life, but have differences in storyline.

But, in my opinion, being next generation means it has to be evolved, and that's what DURARARA got in its BRILLIANT stories and characters! I can say, DURARARA's street life impress me more than Get Backers (again, it's my personal opinion). From Get Backers to DURARARA. From Shinjuku, to Ikebukuro :)) COOL!

I think the author of DURARARA, Narita Ryohgo is a genius! Well, actually DURARARA first came as serial of light novels, illustrated by Yasuda Suzuhito (one of my favorite illustrator, makes this serial more likable for me, haha). Then came the anime in 2010 and now the manga (comics) is about to published here in Indonesia. I’m waiting, even though it’s a little bit dissappointing that the manga is not illustrated by Yasuda-sensei.

Phew! What a post, huh? All I wanted to say is DURARARA is a brilliant serial! Great awesome story and relating to my ‘the next next next’ post before, watching the last episode of anime DURARARA while listening to UVERworld’s DISCORD~your voice mix~ song, is really a perfect match!!!!

Oyeah, talking about song, all the songs as DURARARA opening and ending themes are all awesome! The musics within are also cool!

happiest semester

Akhirnya bisa melanjutkan membaca Tsubasa RC ^0^ CLAMP will always be my favorite manga-ka ever! Their works are very very must-see works!

Random picks from the book rent, found out that the story is sooo sweeeet! No regret at all! Can't wait to read number #3 which seems to be the ending part

NAKAYOSHI adalah bacaan wajib tiap kali terbit, hahaha. Walaupun isi-isi ceritanya naik-turun, kadang kurang oke, tapi sekalinya oke ya oke! Surprisingly romantic, lol

Best thing to read! No wonder they named it Reader's Digest. It really fulfill digest's needs of reading, even my friends love it at their first time reading.

After my decision to be back on track, I decided to watch animations from my favorite animation
studio: Studio Ghibli. I still haven't found some of old titles yet, like Howl's Moving Castle, Neko no Ongaeshi, and My Neighbor Totoro.

My other animations DVD picks. I bought them with many many many considerations that they have to be great movie to watch, lol. My favorites are Summer Wars and Toki o Kakeru Shoujo (Girl Who Leap Through Time).

DVDs I've been waiting for! Especially BECK. Too bad I have to postpone watching them until my mid-term test is over.

My favorite sweet snack ever <3 can't stand the melting vanilla cream of OREO. And Beng Beng is classic Indonesian version of 'mars bars', I prefer eat them when they're not in refrigerator because they taste better without freezing.

Di posting sebelumnya gw pernah tulis kalau MONKEY MAJIK musics is what I'm into now. Their songs really bring the soul out :)

This one song is really got some sweet lyrics, simple love lyric. I listen to this song almost all the time.

Dan... fyi aja, Monkey Majik yang emang pada dasarnya menekuni beberapa genre musik, untuk yang satu ini mereka membawakan HOUSE MUSIC. Hahaha.

dan gw suka? house music? why not? if the song/music is good the I'll like it. Lagipula yang satu ini oke  banget karena feat.dengan RAVEX.

Ravex itu sendiri terdiri dari 3 DJ keluaran AVEX (salah satu music production di Jepang yang udah menelurkan banyak musisi), dan para DJ di RAVEX ini pastinya juga jagoannya si avex itu.

Gw lupa dalam rangka apa, yang jelas avex membuat si Ravex ini khusus satu album  bernama TRAX memperingati sesuatu. Musik2 house-nya dibuat featuring dengan artis2 naungan avex seperti DJ OZMA, BoA, Tohoshinki, Namie Amuro, dan Monkey Majik.

Tapi dari satu album lagu yang gw denger paling oke ya yang ini, karena kolaborasinya sama MONKEY MAJIK, sementara bagi gw, kemampuan musik Monkey Majik itu udah stunning! They can make their song easy listening, even for a house music!

Anyway, mengacu kepada judul postingan ini, sebenarnya gara-gara RAVEX ini keluaran AVEX, maka gw langsung teringat salah satu anime terkeren yang pernah di-remake oleh AVEX, yaitu:

ASTRO BOY, atau Tetsuwan ATOM (judul asli di Jepang)

yeah, anime yang baru aja dibuat versi Amerika-nya ini merupakan masterpiece dari seorang manga-ka/animator ternama di Jepang, bapak komik/animasi di Jepang, seorang OSAMU TEZUKA.

Sejauh ini gw melihat bagaimana sebagai orang yang turut berperan di masa-masa awal dunia komik dan animasi di Jepang, hampir sebagian besar karya dari beliau sangatlah digemari, populer, dan menjadi inspirasi banyak orang, termasuk para komikus dan animator.

Sebagian dari karyanya dibuat versi remake di tahun 2000-an, seperti Astro Boy, Dr.Black Jack, Cyborg 009. Dan gw sempat menggemari ketiga anime tersebut ketika sempat ditayangkan di Indonesia, terutama pastinya, Astro Boy (yaampun, gw bisa nangis-nangis nontonnya).

Di Jepang sendiri telah dibangun sebuah tempat memorial bernama Osamu Tezuka Museum. Oh... how much I really want to go there someday!

Kalau gw lihat-lihat, karya-karya beliau itu memiliki alur cerita yang simple namun berarti untuk dicerna. Karakter para tokoh yang ditampilkan pun simple. Begitu pula dengan gaya menggambar yang juga masih simple. Walaupun hal tersebut dikarenakan pada masa tersebut masih masa-masa awal dunia komik di Jepang, namun justru kesederhanaan karya Osamu Tezuka tersebut itulah yang membuat cerita serta karakternya menjadi kuat dan mudah untuk diingat orang-orang.

Ditambah lagi, versi remake dari anime-anime tersebut punya musik yang enak-enak! dan Artwork pendukung yang nggak main-main kerennya. Auuhh... terutama Astro Boy dan Cyborg 009! They are my favourite.

Ahh... Jadi inget Chemistry, lagunya yang Now or Never sebagai 2nd Openin song remake 2003 anime Astro Boy yang keren banget! Beat up and viva hiphop music! hahaha

I'm a cartoon maniac

Hari Minggu entah kapan gw menyadari sesuatu yang baru dan mengagetkan:

BEN 10 kini udah masuk versi baru BEN 10 ALIEN FORCE...!!!

Yak, Ben 10 itu adalah serial kartun yang pertama kali gw tonton di Cartoon Network, dan udah tayang di Indosiar, dan sekarang udah masuk versi keduanya yakni Ben 10 Alien Force.

Ben 10. Cerita tentang anak cowok bernama Ben yang menemukan alat untuk berubah ke 10 macam alien. Masih kecil, cerita dimulai di summer holiday bersama sang kakek dan sepupu, Gwen (sayang nggak ada gambarnya)

Ben 10 Alien Force. Oke, tampak Ben yang udah remaja (kayaknya udah kuliah), dengan Kevin (kiri, tokoh di Ben 10 juga) dan Gwen (kanan, yang beda banget sama versi anak2nya, lebih cantik, bo!). Transformasi para alien makin mantap, waw!

Serial kartun.

Benar. I'm a cartoon maniac.

Anime freak, definetely. But I also love cartoon, tontonan anak-anak kayak gitu yang paling gw nikmatin kalau nyalain TV, dan anggota keluarga yang lain cuma bisa mengeluh, kenapa seorang gue yang udah segini umur masih aja demen nonton kartun.

Anime dan Cartoon. Dua hal yang berbeda. Dua-duanya gw suka.

Tentunya di luar kedua itu juga gw masih suka, kok, film, komik, novel, buku nonfiksi, dan lain-lain. Lagipula sekarang juga gw emang udah susah nyari waktu untuk nonton kartun.

Tapi gw tetep seseorang yang masih bisa menikmati kartun, bahkan di usia yang menuju ..... (isi sendiri).

Yah, poin bagusnya, mungkin ntar kalau gw punya anak bisa nyambung diajak ngobrol soal kartun favoritnya. Eh, tapi gw maunya anak gw ntar nggak terobsesi sama kartun, we're going to have fun family time recreating somewhere.

Yah, mulai out of topic.
